Nesbitt Residence

Naramata, BC, 2009

Sustainable and sensitive design were primary objectives of this project. Preservation of the natural site was critical and reflected in the relatively undistrubed bedrock and considered placement of the houses between existing ponderosa pines. The bedrock is utilized to create a foundation for the garage and guest house, forming a bridge over the access path to the main house to create both a privacy barrier and dramatic approach from the access road. Passive solar design ensures a cool interior climate during the hot summer months, while ground source heating and concrete floors operate as efficient means for further temperature control.
